Consignment Auctions
So, you've got this beautiful piece of art, a unique piece of decor, an old treasure, or perhaps some stylish furniture that you’re ready to part with. Selling with Memento Auctions is easy. Call/text us, email us photos, or complete the form on our contact page to see if an item is right for our auctions.
What does it mean to consign an item for auction?
Consignment means that we will sell it on your behalf. We take care of the logistics, the marketing, the shipping, and the communication with the buyer. Once your item is sold, you get its sale price less the commission we charge.
What items do we consign?
We consign a variety of items. We accept objects that are unique, rare, beautiful, fascinating and functional. We accept furniture (antique and modern, including refurbished or upgraded), art, décor, antiques, objet d’art, pottery and tableware, but there are always exceptions. Contact us to put your item(s) into our auction and see our process below.

Consignment Auctions: step-by-step guide
Step 1: Contact us
Get in touch and tell us about your items. We are available by phone, email, or the contact form on this site. Send us a few photos of your item(s) in your first message to save time. If we need to take a closer look at your item, we may ask for a video call or to see it in person.
Step 2: Bring it in and sign the consignor agreement
We’ll ask you to bring the item to us. If you can’t deliver your item, we can pick it up for an adjusted lotting fee based on the distance and size of the item. Our consignor agreement is a simple document that authorizes us to sell your item on your behalf. At this moment, we confirm valuations, reserves, sale dates and other information. We’re always available to answer your questions.
Step 3: The Auction
We’ll put your item in one of our online auctions. Usually we like to wait 3 to 4 weeks (perhaps longer) so that we have enough time to advertise your item. We take care of cataloguing, photographing, marketing, and shipping.
Step 4: The Payout
Once your item is sold, you receive the sale price of the item less our commission and lotting fee if applicable (see our commission and pricing page).
FAQs
-
Absolutely. A minimum sale price is called a ‘reserve’. You have the option to set a reserve price on specific lots ensuring that your valuable items are not sold below a threshold. We will advise you to determine when and if a reserve is prudent.
That said, reserve items incur extra costs to put to auction. Items with reserves are charged an adjusted reserve fee if not sold. See our Commissions and Pricing page.
-
Our commissions are subtracted from the final sale price of items. This means that in most cases, you do not pay for our services upfront, but we may ask for a deposit.
For a breakdown of our commission schedule, please see the Commission and Pricing page.
-
Most of the time, yes. There are times when when we cannot accept new consignments as a current auction is already full. We’ll let you know when our next auction is scheduled during the valuation process.
-
If your item does not sell, we return it to you less the applicable lotting fee (there is an expense for us to put your item up for auction). You may have the option of including your item in a future auction.
-
We strive to make our valuations as accurate as possible. That said, markets are unpredictable and always changing. This means that we must operate on likelihoods and no auction house can make guarantees.

Of course. If you’re downsizing, moving, or want to sell many items, please get in touch. We’ll work with your timeline. If you are looking to auction all items from an estate, please see our estate auctions page.
